Tut's Toffee Recipe from Kim Bender

Hello Friends!

This past Saturday, we had an all day pot-luck crop at the store.  Everyone brought a dish to share.  Kim had brought a delightful snack called Tut's Toffee.  Many of the girls had asked for the recipe and luckily, Kim has just sent it to me.  It's really simple, and absolutely delicious!  Oh, it melts in your mouth!!!

Ingredients:
  • Regular saltine crackers (about a sleeve and a half)
  • 2 sticks BUTTER
  • 2 cups brown sugar (may require a bit more)
  • 12 oz. (minimum) semi-sweet OR milk chocolate chips (I buy the larger bag but have some leftover. Easier coverage with more.)
  • 2 small pkgs of chopped pecans
Preparation:
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Line an entire baking sheet (with sides) with saltines. You will need to break in half saltines for one long edge and one short edge.....they don't have to be perfect.
  3. Melt butter and brown sugar together in a double boiler adding brown sugar as needed if the butter is too runny. Stir often.
  4. Pour melted butter and brown sugar mixture over saltines covering EVERY part of them. Crackers may shift a bit......that is normal.
  5. Bake for 8-10 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately pour chocolate chips on top and they will begin to melt. Spread melting chocolate over entire layer of saltines with a spatula.
  7. Sprinkle nuts on top. I press the nuts into the chocolate a bit so they "stick."
  8. Cool on countertop 15 minutes and then place in refrigerator to chill a few hours or overnight.
  9. With a round-tipped knife gently work an edge of the chilled toffee loose and break into bite-sized pieces.
  10. ENJOY!
A Big Thanks to Kim B. for sharing this delicious recipe with us!

A special card from a dear friend...

Most days I dread getting the mail out of the mailbox because it is usually filled with bills, but today was a very special day.  No bills to pay, but a 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 envelope.  A sure sign of a handmade card enclosed :).

What could I have done to deserve a handmade card???  I read the return address and saw that it was from my dear friend, and design team member, Jamie!  Oh, the suspense.  I carefully tore open the envelop and found this beautiful card inside...

And then I opened the card...
to find all these beautiful notes from all of Jamie's friends in her scrap group in Idaho.  Jamie had conducted a class for her scrap group last weekend and we had sent her tear bear kits so that she could teach the girls how to make our bears.  Each one of the girls that had attended the activity signed the card.  I was so touched to receive this card that I felt all warm and fuzzy inside... like each one of them sent me a big HUG!

Jamie also sent me some pictures of the event and the ladies with their newly created bears.  By the way, they were all Beau-ti-ful!  Nice work Ladies!

So to all the Ladies in Jamie's Scrap Group...

"I am so glad you had fun making your bears and layouts with Jamie.  Your warm thoughts and comments really made my day.  I'm truly at a loss for words, but your kind gesture has really touched my heart!  Thank You!  Keep tearing those bears!"

Before I get all teary-eyed, I better go finish writing my other post.

Until Later!

Charlotte's Entry for TBSC#3

Happy Tuesday Everyone!  It's a beautiful day here in NEPA.  A bit cooler than it has been, but the humidity is down and there is a pleasant breeze blowing.  A great day to open the doors and window to get some fresh air circulating around the house.

I have a beautiful layout to share with you today created by one of our Beary Sweet Friends, Charlotte.  She created this layout for The Beary Sweet Challenge #3, Getting Sketchy!

Charlotte choose patterned papers from Doodlebug which were quite suiting for the occasion.  This particular paper is now sold out (sorry).  Combined with some matching cardstock and a few Ice Cream Braddies to sweeten it up a bit.  The letters are from Pink Paislee that have dipped in some "sugar".  Oh, they come that way, and the shade of blue is gorgeous!  Okay, I've gotta get them online - Oops!

I will be entering Charlotte's layout into The Beary Sweet Challenge #3.   Thank you Charlotte for sharing this Sweet layout with us.

Thanks for stopping by!

Store Entry for TBSC #3 by Kim Bender

Hello Dear Friends!  Today I am sharing with you this beautiful card that our friend Kim Bender brought to the store this weekend to enter into The Beary Sweet Challenge.  Our first Challenge this month is a sketch created by our very own DT Coordinator Susan.

Isn't Kim's card adorable?  Kim created "Uncle Sam" using punch art.  It's such a great way to make use of all those punches we have laying around.

Thank you Kim for sharing with us this beautiful festive card.

Our "Boston" Pattern Winner...

Hi Friends!  Sorry I am late posting here.  Things have been a bit busy here at home with Little Miss Lindsay.  She goes in to have her tonsils and adenoids taken out tomorrow.  I'm so nervous!  Not like I haven't been through this once before, but Abby was 6.  Lindsay is only little.  Anyway, wish us luck.

Besides being nervous parents... we also been VERY busy packaging all the new patterns and getting all those pre-orders out.  Yep, everything has started shipping.

Now for the moment you've been waiting for...

And our winner is:

Congrats to Lori Leng.

Lori, please email me at kimm@thebearyscrap.com with your snail-mail address so I can get your new pattern out to you as soon as possible.

Thank you everyone for playing along!
